Pressure swing adsorption technology is the most prominent achievement in recent years in the field of gas separation. Due to this technology, many problems typical of hydrogen PSA plants have been resolved.
Bulk hydrogen produced by steam reforming of methane or natural gas at high temperatures (700–1100 °C) with approximately 80% efficiency.
High purity DM water broken into H₂ and O₂ using solid oxide (SOEC) or alkaline (AEC) electrolysis cells. Approximately 5% of industrial hydrogen is produced by electrolysis.
Liquid ammonia vaporized and decomposed with catalyst into mixed gas containing 75% hydrogen and 25% nitrogen at normal temperature.
One m³ of methanol contains 1660 Nm³ of hydrogen. Combined with PSA purification for high purity output.
